In Memoriam George R. Loeffler (1918-2015) A funeral service for George, who died on Thursday, November 19 (one week before his 9th birthday) was conducted on Sunday, November 22. His loving survivors include three daughters, one son, eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. George served his country in the U. S. Army Air Corp. during War II. Active in his community, he was the owner of the "George Loeffler Hardware" in Livonia for over forty years. Together with his late wife Elaine, he was a member of Grace Church for fifty one years, giving lovingly of their time and talents. During the last ten years they were ministered to in their home by their Pastors. Robert A. Ibbetson (1925-2015) A funeral service for Bob, who died on Thursday, December 10, was conducted on Tuesday, December 15. His loving survivors are his wife Toni, six children, eighteen grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, one great- great grand­ child and one brother. Bob worked for Ford Motor Company as a tool and die maker. He and Toni have been members of Grace for over fifty-five years and was active in our Sunday School for many years. He enjoyed his home "up north" and also enjoyed visiting in Florida. Bob served in the Navy during WWII. May the Lord of the Church comfort this family with His Gospel of love and peace. Anna A. Erickson (1930-2015) A   memorial   service   for   Anna   who   died   on   Tuesday,   December   22,   2015   was   conducted   on   Saturday,   January   2, 2016.      Her   loving   survivors   include   two   sons,   three   daughters,   seven   grandchildren,   8   great-grandchildren,   and   one brother.      Anna,   together   with   her   husband   John   (who   died   one   year   ago)   were   faithful   members   of   Grace   for   over fifty   years.         Anna   was   faithful   to   her   Lord,   to   her   family,   and   to   her   church   family   here   at   Grace.      May   the   Lord   of the Church bless this family with the blessed assurance of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Sylvia Schmidt (1911-2016) A funeral service for Sylvia, who died on Tuesday, January 12 was conducted on Friday, January 15. Her loving survivors include one daughter, six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Sylvia was a 65 year resident of Redford Township and a member of Grace Church beginning in its early years, worshipping in the "old cinder block sanctuary." For the past 15 years Sylvia lived with her daughter and was ministered to by her Pastor. She worked for Detroit Diesel in the executive cafeteria but served most of her life as a homemaker, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She went to be with her Lord at the age of 105. She is buried in Glen Eden Lutheran Memorial Park. Bernice (Dolly) Adkins (1925-2016) A memorial service for Dolly, who died on Thursday, January 29, was conducted on Thursday, February 4. Her loving survivors are one son, eight grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and a twin sister. Bernice took on a "part-time" job at the Redford Union Schools and remained working there for twenty-six years. She served as secretary at both Pierson Junior High and Redford Union High School. She was an avid sports fan and worked to create the Little League Baseball program in Redford Township in the early 1960's. Dolly has been a faithful member of Grace Church for over sixty years. For the past several years she has been confined to her home where the Pastors have ministered to her. Her final resting place is Grand Lawn Cemetery in Detroit. Dorothy Ellen Arvy (1918-2016) A private Christian family prayer service for Dorothy, was conducted in the Chapel of Glen Eden Lutheran Cemetery on Friday, April 29, 2016. Dorothy and her late husband Sam were faithful members of Grace Church for sixty-one years. She had been in failing health for the past several years, was cared for by her family and ministered to by her Pastors. Her loving survivors are two daughters, two sons-in­ law, one son and daughter-in- law; eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. William A. Brandon   1924 – 2016 A Christian funeral service for Bill, who died on Wednesday, May 4, was conducted on Saturday, May 7.  His loving survivors are two sons, two daughters, nine grand-     children and seven great grand-children, in addition to one brother and two sisters.  Bill served our nation during World War II in the Navy and was  stationed in the Pacific field as a radio operator.  Upon his return to Detroit,  he worked for Detroit Edison.  Bill and his late wife Edith were members of Holy Cross Lutheran Church and in 1991 they joined Grace Church.  Bill was active here on our Board of Elders, helped in our VBS and drove to several youth outings in the early ‘90’s.  He had a great love for the outdoors.  His final resting place is at Glen Eden Lutheran Memorial Park in Livonia. Elsie Marie Ahonen (1923-2016) A funeral service for Elsie who died on Friday, May 27 was conducted from our sanctuary on Wednesday, June 1. Her loving survivors are one daughter, two grandsons, three great-grandchildren and a brother. Elsie was a Pi Lambda Theta graduate of Wayne State University. She taught public school in Dearborn and the Clarenceville (Redford/Livonia) School Districts. Together with her late husband Ernest, she joined Grace Church in 1965 and faithfully worshipped her Lord and taught the children in our Sunday School for over 40 years. For the last ten years Elsie had been confined to her home where she was ministered to in Word and Sacrament from her Pastors. Antoinette "Toni" Ibbetson (1930-2016) A funeral service for Toni, who died on Monday, June 27 was conducted on Thursday, June 30. Her loving survivors include four sons, two daughters, eighteen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one sister. Toni, together with her late husband Robert, (who preceded her in death in December of 2015) were active members of Grace Church since 1956. She loved her cottage in Tawas and visiting family in Florida over the winter months. Toni is best known for her baking; most notably for the Vacation Bible School cookies she personally baked. For the past several years health has kept her from attending worship. Her Pastors have ministered to her with Word and Sacrament in her Senior Apartment in Waterford. She and her late husband will be entombed together in Florida. Arlette M. Price (1927-2016) A memorial service for Arlette who died on Wednesday, August 3 was conducted from our sanctuary on Saturday, September 3. Her loving survivors are three sons, ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Along with her late husband Rick, Arlette was a faithful member of Grace Church and grew many friendships at the Church over the years. A graduate of the University of Michigan, Arlette served as a public school teacher; many of those years with the Redford Union Schoo! District teaching at Hilbert Junior High School. For the last two years Arlette had been confined to her senior living apartment where she was ministered to by her Pastors. Harlan R. Wells (1925-2016) Barbara J. Boynton  (1956-2016) A Christian service for Barbara who died on Friday, October 28 was conducted from our sanctuary on Tuesday, November 1.  Her loving survivors are her husband Edward, 2 sons, 1 daughter, 5 grandchildren and many other family members and friends – all who are faithful members of Grace.  Barb worked as a legal secretary and was very talented with crafts and baking.  She was an active member of Grace Church.  Her lovely smile and positive outlook on life will be greatly missed by all. Barbara  was laid to rest until the return of Christ at Glen Eden Lutheran Cemetery. The salvation is of the Lord, He is their strength in the time of trouble. Psalm 37:39
