In Memoriam - 2015 John Erickson - 1931 - 2014 A Christian memorial service for John, who died on December 18, 2014 was conducted on December 26, 2014 at Glen Eden Lutheran Memorial Park. His loving survivors are his wife Ann of sixty two years, three daughters, two sons and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. John and Ann have been faithful members of Grace Church for fifty-six years. He served as a member of the Board of Elders for many years. Before his retirement he was employed by Progressive Tools. May the Lord comfort his wife Ann and their family. Ralph H. Grogetsky - 1947 - 2015 A Christian funeral service for Ralph, who died suddenly on Monday, January 5, was conducted on Friday, January 9 in the chapel of Glen Eden Lutheran Memorial Park. His loving survivors are two cousins, one niece and other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Maria and his parents (all members of Grace Church). Ralph was a graduate ot Lutheran High School and Detroit Lutheran College, earning a degree in business. He worked for The Sanders Company for many years. Ralph was baptized and confirmed those baptismal vows at Zion Lutheran Church in Detroit. He, along with his parents, joined Grace Church in 1975.. He was faithful in worship, Bible class and served as an usher. Our prayers go out to his family. Norma Lee Flood - 1932 - 2015 A Christian funeral service for Norma, who died on Monday, March 23, was conducted from our Sanctuary on Friday, March 27. Her loving survivors are her husband Don, one daughter, four grandchildren and two sisters. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Cynthia. Norma served our Country in the Air Force, receiving the rank of Corporal. She and Don have been faithful members of Grace Church since 1956. Our prayers of comfort are extended to Don and their family.

Ryan Matthew Alderton  -  1989-2015

A Christian funeral service for Ryan who died suddenly on Monday, April 6 was conducted on Thursday, April 9.  His loving survivors are his parents, Matthew Alderton and Suzanne Vickory, his grandparents, Tom and Roberta Papora, one brother and one sister.  Ryan was baptized and confirmed here at Grace Church, sang in our youth choir and served as an acolyte.  He was a proud graduate of Walled Lake Central High School where he played varsity football, track and wrestling.  Upon graduation he worked in the restaurant field.  Our prayers go out to this family. Margaret (Peg) A. Krichbaum    1911-2015 A   Christian   funeral   service   for   Peg,   who   died   on   Friday,   May   29   was   conducted   from   our   sanctuary   on   Monday, June   1.      Her   loving   survivors   include   3   daughters,   6   grandchildren,   14   great-grandchildren   and   2   nephews.      Peg and   her   late   husband,   Harold   were   faithful   members   of   Grace   Church   since   1990.      Before   that   time   they   were faithful   members   of   only   two   other   Lutheran   Churches,   Hope   Lutheran   Church   in   Chicago   and   Covenant   Lutheran Church   in   Detroit.     At   104   years   of   age,   Peg   faithfully   worshipped   her   Lord   and   was   in   worship   here   at   Grace   just   a week ago. Ruth Sinclair - 1929 - 2015 Arvilla M. Koenig - 1908 - 2015 A funeral service for Arvilla, who died on July 22 at the beautiful age of 107, was conducted from our sanctuary on Saturday, July 25. Her loving survivors are two daughters, seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren., many of whom are members of Grace Church. Arvilla experienced many events in her long and blessed life. She joined Grace Church, together with her husband Elmer in 1957 and remained active in worship until her health no longer permitted. She was ministered to by her Pastors with Word and Sacrament. She was the oldest member of Grace Church and will be sadly missed by her family, friends and Church members - but was joyfully welcomed into heaven by her Lord, Jesus Christ. Burial was at Grand Lawn Cemetery in Detroit. Mildred P. Mehlhorn    1922 – 2015 A   funeral   service   for   Mildred,   who   died   on   Monday,   August   17   was   conducted   from   our   Sanctuary   on   Thursday, August   20.      Her   loving   survivors   are   one   son,   one   daughter,   four   grandchildren   and   six   great-grandchilldren.     Mildred,   together   with   her   late   husband   Harry,   were   faithful   members   of   Outer   Drive   Faith   Lutheran   Church.      In   1987 they   transferred   their   Church   membership   to   Grace   Church   where   they   continued   their   faithfulness   to   their   Lord and His Church.  Her life is summed up so beautifully by these words, “Faith, Family and Friends.”  May   the   Risen   Christ   comfort   the   family   with   His   Words   of   peace   and   the   promise   of   eternal   life.      Burial   was   at   Glen Eden Lutheran Memorial Park in Livonia.

Susan C. Valrance      1938-2015

A funeral service for Sue who died on Saturday, August 22 was conducted from our sanctuary on Wednesday, August 26.  Her loving survivors include one daughter, one son, four grandchildren and one brother.  Sue, together with her late husband George, were faithful members of Grace Church since 1962.  Sue loved to work with her hands and was a gifted seamstress and quilter.  She was a stay-at-home mother and was active in our women’s organizations and taught Vacation Bible School in her younger years.  Our prayers go out to the family.  Burial was in Glen Eden Lutheran Memorial Park, Livonia. Edith J. Brandon  1925-2015 A   funeral   service   for   Edith,   who   died   on   Tuesday,   September   1   was   conducted   on   Saturday,   September   5.      Her loving    survivors    include    her    husband    William    (also    a    member    of    Grace),    two    sons,    two    daughters,    nine grandchildren    (two    of    whom    are    Missouri    Synod    Pastors)    and    seven    great-grandchildren.        Edith    served    as secretary   of   Holy   Cross   Lutheran   School   in   Detroit   for   many   years.         Upon   joining   Grace   Church,   she   was   active   in the   Chancel   Choir   for   over   twenty   years.        A   die-hard   Tiger   fan,   Edith   kept      busy   knitting   and   sewing.      Due   to   health problems,   she   had   been   unable   to   attend   worship   for   the   past   five   years   and   was   ministered   to   by   her   Pastors.     Edith’s final resting place until the resurrection is at Glen Eden Lutheran Memorial Park, Livonia. Harold S. Alexander    -    1917-2015 A Christian funeral service for Harold, who died on Sunday, September 13, was conducted on Saturday, September 19.  His loving survivors are one daughter, two sons, six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.  Harold was a 75 year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local #58.  He worked on the electrical portion of our Church building and also many schools in the Redford Union School District during their construction in the 1950’s.  He, together with his wife Jeanne, were faithful members of Grace Church for over sixty years. Harold was laid to his final rest at Glen Eden Lutheran Memorial Park in Livonia until the Return of Christ. Martin Richard (Dick) Grausam    1927-2015 A memorial service for Dick, who died on Tuesday, September 29 was conducted on Saturday, October 3.  His loving survivors include his wife Ann of sixty-six years, two sons, one daughter, nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.  Dick served our nation in the Marines during World War II.  Upon his return to Detroit, Dick was a civil engineer for the City of Detroit.  Both Dick and Ann have been faithful members of Grace Church for over fifty years.  Over the last few years, health has kept them from worship but they have been ministered to regularly by their Pastors.  Sarah "Sally" Copley 1932 - 2015 A funeral service for Sally, who died on October 31, 2015, was conducted on Tuesday, November 3. Her loving survivors are two daughters, one son, seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Her husband preceded her in death just one month ago. Sally had been affiliated with Grace Church for over fifty years. While spending may years in Florida, she attended a Missouri Synod Church there. Upon returning to Michigan, she rejoined Grace. Over the past several months, illness has kept her from worship and her Pastors ministered to her. Sarah enjoyed music, game shows, (appearing on a TV game show in the 70's). She will be missed by family and friends.
